"A Meaningful Experience: Take Home Your Own Creation"
The Gangjin Celadon Festival will kick off on the 22nd. Among the festival programs, the ‘wheel throwing’ experience, which allows visitors to directly engage with the essence of traditional pottery, is expected to offer a unique delight.
According to the county on the 11th, the Gangjin County Festival Promotion Committee is hosting the Celadon Festival in the birthplace of Goryeo Celadon, which boasts a thousand-year history and tradition. Every year, countless tourists visit the event. In particular, the ‘wheel throwing’ experience is open to everyone regardless of age or gender, making it especially popular among family visitors.

This year, the wheel throwing experience zone will feature a variety of programs that combine traditional wheel throwing methods with modern pottery techniques. Visitors can watch demonstrations by master potters and create their own celadon pieces by hand, making for a truly memorable experience. Additionally, participants can take home their finished works, adding even more meaning to the activity.
A county official stated, “The wheel throwing experience at the Gangjin Celadon Festival goes beyond a simple activity; it plays an important role in allowing participants to feel the value of traditional culture firsthand and in passing it down to future generations. We will continue to prepare diverse programs so that more people can experience the beauty of celadon.”
This year’s Gangjin Celadon Festival is establishing itself not just as a festival, but as a venue where people can directly experience the culture and history of Gangjin. With the administrative capabilities of the ‘hard-working Gangjin County’ and the passion of local residents, the event is expected to be a great success.
The festival will run for ten days until the 3rd of next month, offering a variety of programs including celadon making demonstrations, exhibitions, auctions, and more in addition to the wheel throwing experience. For more information, please visit the official Gangjin Celadon Festival website.
