Elected Representative Yoo Seung-min Completes Inauguration Approval Process... Scheduled to Visit Jincheon Athlete Village on the 14th

Official Four-Year Term to Begin on the 28th

Yoo Seung-min, the president-elect of the 42nd Korea Sports Council, is reported to have completed the necessary approval procedures for his inauguration. Accordingly, Yoo Seung-min plans to begin pre-inauguration activities starting with a visit to the Jincheon National Training Center on the 14th.

Yoo Seung-min was elected on the 14th of last month, defeating former president Lee Ki-heung, who was aiming for a third term. Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, reportedly approved and notified the inauguration on the 6th. Yoo will begin his four-year term at the Korea Sports Council General Assembly scheduled for the 28th.

Prior to this, Yoo plans to start his first official pre-inauguration activity by visiting the Jincheon National Training Center on the morning of the 14th. He intends to receive a status report and tour the training facilities at Jincheon.

At a press conference on the 16th of last month, shortly after his election, Yoo responded to questions about the Jincheon Training Center by saying, "When interacting with many people overseas, they want to learn about our Jincheon Training Center system. I consider it a point of pride," adding, "I believe it is necessary to communicate and engage with the public through tourism programs and other means, as long as it does not interfere with the training of Olympic and Asian Games athletes."

Regarding the strengthening of the national team training system, he said, "The elite sports system is in crisis and is becoming more marginalized. It needs to be developed," and added, "I want to broaden the scope of the training center system beyond just Olympic and Asian Games sports."

During his campaign for the presidency, Yoo gained positive responses from young athletes by experiencing all 68 detailed sports under the Korea Sports Council.

He also plans to hold a meeting with national team coaches working at the Jincheon Training Center and have lunch together at the training center’s cafeteria.

Since the 7th, Yoo has been visiting the site of the 2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games on a 3-day, 2-night trip at the invitation of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
