"MAGA Does Not Forgive"... Trump Mocks Swift for 'Super Bowl Booing'

Trump Mocks Swift for Being Booed at the Super Bowl
Resentment Over Her Endorsement of Former Vice President Harris Persists

Every year, numerous celebrities visit the stadium to watch the Super Bowl, the championship game of the National Football League (NFL), known as "America's biggest sports festival." Among them, an unexpected encounter between U.S. President Donald Trump and pop star Taylor Swift at the stadium led to Trump mocking Swift for being booed during the game. This has been interpreted as a reflection of resentment stemming from Swift's public endorsement of former Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of last year's presidential election.

On the 9th (local time), the AP news agency and other foreign media reported that "Swift watched the Super Bowl game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana." Swift reportedly attended the game to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, who plays for Kansas City. Along with Swift, President Trump also visited the stadium with his second son Eric Trump and daughter-in-law Lara, as well as his eldest daughter Ivanka. After the first quarter ended, when Swift's image appeared on the stadium's big screen while watching the game, some spectators booed her. Realizing she was being booed, Swift glanced sideways and wrinkled her nose slightly. The AP interpreted the boos as a reaction from sports fans who had grown resentful of Swift's frequent appearances on the NFL broadcast TV screen.

As the first sitting president to watch the Super Bowl, President Trump later mentioned Swift being booed on his social media and mocked her. He also shared a post from another account called "Lips of TikTok," which posted a video of Swift being booed. The post stated, "Trump received tremendous cheers at the Super Bowl, but Swift was booed," and added, "The world is healing." Subsequently, President Trump himself posted on social media, "The only person who had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Swift," adding, "She was booed at the stadium. MAGA (Make America Great Again) does not forgive."

Earlier, around September last year, Swift publicly endorsed Vice President Harris on her social media after the presidential candidate TV debate ended. She also encouraged her fans to vote for Harris. At the time, President Trump showed discomfort, saying, "(Swift) will probably pay a price in the market." Meanwhile, foreign media reported that when Trump stood and saluted during the national anthem, the large screen captured the moment, and cheers erupted inside the stadium.
