Policies Made Directly by Youth... Geumcheon-gu Recruiting 5th Youth Network Committee Members

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it is recruiting young people to participate in the ‘5th Geumcheon Youth Network 2025’ until the 21st.

The ‘Geumcheon Youth Network’ is a youth participation organization operated to enable young people to directly discover youth policies and activate youth networks within the region. Through this, young people can participate in district administration, expand their social roles, and propose effective policies.

The number of recruits is 50, and any young person residing or active in Geumcheon-gu can apply.

The selected members will choose one of the four divisions: ▲ Employment ▲ Housing & Welfare ▲ Culture & Arts ▲ Communication & Networking, and will be active for one year. Each division carries out various activities such as agenda discovery, policy proposals, and planning and executing projects related to youth issues. A small meeting allowance will also be provided to participating members.

Youth wishing to participate can download the application form from the ‘Notices’ section on the Geumcheon-gu Office website, fill it out, and submit it along with supporting documents via email to the person in charge. The selection results will be announced on February 28 on the Geumcheon-gu Office website.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “As Geumcheon-gu turns 30 this year, marking the 30th anniversary of its establishment, I believe the young Geumcheon-gu will be able to envision an even more promising future through youth participation in district administration.” He added, “I hope for much interest and support for the Youth Network activities, which involve thinking together with local youth about various issues and finding solutions.”

Meanwhile, reflecting the policy proposals of the 4th Youth Network members, the district held the first Geumcheon Youth Festival in 2023, titled ‘A Festival That’s Okay to Attend Alone,’ as a new project. Through the activities of the 5th term, various policies will also be promoted by incorporating the opinions of young people.

Dobong-gu Allows Disabled Persons to Decide Up to 20% of Voucher Amount Themselves

For Disabled Persons Using Voucher Services Such as Activity Support

Apply at Local Community Service Centers by February 19

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) will implement the ‘2025 Pilot Project for the Disabled Personal Budget System’ this year.

Previously, in December last year, the district applied for the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s ‘Pilot Project for the Disabled Personal Budget System’ and was selected as a local government to promote the project.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare plans to pilot the project in nine local governments including Dobong-gu this year and to fully implement the project in 2026.

The ‘Disabled Personal Budget System’ is a system that allows disabled persons to select services or goods that suit their needs and circumstances within the given budget range by themselves.

Participants in the project can convert up to 20% of their individual voucher amount into a personal budget according to their individual usage plan and use it.

This can be used to purchase goods or services necessary for the daily life of disabled persons, but it is prohibited to use it for gambling, prostitution, or anything illegal, as well as for living expenses such as food and taxes.

The district expects that this project will guarantee the self-determination rights of disabled persons and satisfy various welfare demand needs.

Eligible participants are disabled persons in the area who use one or more of the following services: ▲ Disabled Activity Support ▲ Adult Developmental Disability Day Activity Service ▲ Youth Developmental Disability After-School Activity Service ▲ Developmental Rehabilitation Service.

Applications can be submitted to the local community service center by February 19. A total of 20 people will be selected through a random draw.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “We expect to provide customized welfare services to disabled persons in the region through this pilot project,” and added, “We will continue to make efforts to improve the quality of life and promote self-directed living for disabled persons.”
