Ulsan City Holds Opening Ceremony for 'Startup Hub'

A New Hub for Ulsan's Startup Ecosystem Opens at 3 p.m. on the 11th
Jongha Innovation Center Floors 4-6, Total Floor Area of 4,341㎡

The ‘Ulsan Startup Hub,’ set to become a new cornerstone of the startup ecosystem in the Ulsan region, is opening its doors.

On February 11 at 3 p.m., Ulsan City will hold the ‘Ulsan Startup Hub Opening Ceremony’ at Undang Hall on the 4th floor of the Jongha Innovation Center (named after donor KCC Chairman Lee Ju-yong).

The opening ceremony will be attended by about 150 people, including Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, Minister of SMEs and Startups Oh Young-joo, Acting Chairperson of the City Council Kim Jong-seop, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries President Noh Jin-yul, KCC Information & Communications Vice Chairman Lee Sang-hyun (donor), and domestic and international corporate representatives. The event will proceed with a progress report, opening ceremony, and a tour of the facilities on each floor.

In particular, the government, local governments, city council, large corporations, startup companies, public institutions, and financial institutions will come together to announce the opening of the ‘Ulsan Startup Hub: A New Leap Toward the Future!’ and join in a vigorous start.

Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom stated, “The ‘Ulsan Startup Hub’ is expected to provide promising local startups with opportunities to leap forward through exchanges and cooperation with large corporations and investors, fostering broad exchanges and collaborations encompassing entrepreneurship and technological innovation.”

In addition to the opening ceremony, various related events will be held until the 12th, including investment consultations, presentations on successful startup cases and global expansion cases, as well as discussion sessions and talk concerts for prospective entrepreneurs.

The ‘Ulsan Startup Hub’ was established on the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors of the Jongha Innovation Center with a total floor area of 4,341㎡ after Ulsan City was selected for the ‘2024 Regional Startup Activation Support Project’ and secured 2.5 billion KRW in national funding.

▲ The 6th floor (1,273㎡) provides spaces for investment firms and an investment attraction forum hall, creating an environment for communication and exchange among local startups, large corporations, investors, and startup support organizations.

After a pilot operation involving 46 companies and investment firms until June 30, formal recruitment of resident companies will begin in the second half of the year.

Operations will be managed by the Ulsan Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (CEO Kim Heon-seong), a startup-dedicated institution under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
