Gyeonggi-do "Apply for Resident Support Projects in Development Restriction Zones Next Year"

Gyeonggi Province will accept applications for the 2026 Development Restriction Zone Resident Support Project next year.

On the 11th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will accept applications for the ‘2026 Development Restriction Zone Resident Support Project’ until March 4, providing up to 90% of project costs such as road construction to areas experiencing inconvenience due to the designation of development restriction zones.

The main resident support projects include ▲living infrastructure projects that expand basic facilities such as roads, parks, and village halls ▲environmental and cultural projects to create attractive recreational spaces in development restriction zones, such as Nuri-gil trails, leisure green spaces, and landscape projects ▲subsidy projects for improving the residential environment of residents living there at the time of designation by renovating old houses ▲and living expense support projects for low-income households among the residents living there at the time of designation.

Residents living in development restriction zones can submit their opinions to the relevant departments of their city or county if they have any inconveniences in daily life, welfare improvement needs, or resident income increase projects. The development restriction zone departments of each city and county must fully collect residents’ opinions and submit them to Gyeonggi Province by March 4.

Gyeonggi Province will conduct document and on-site evaluations and consult external experts for the submitted projects, prioritize them according to the resident support project criteria, and submit them to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The final selection will be made in September.

Kim Su-hyung, Director of the Regional Policy Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, “Development restriction zones are still under strict regulations, and basic infrastructure and living conditions remain poor. If selected for the resident support project, we will actively support solving financial issues that were difficult for cities and counties to implement directly, such as exemption from conservation charges and phased financial support.”

Meanwhile, this year Gyeonggi Province will invest 17.3 billion KRW, including 12.8 billion KRW in national funds and 4.5 billion KRW in local funds, to support 31 resident support projects such as the maintenance project of the old stream in Sang-gwanggyo-dong, Suwon City, the Dokgotcheon restoration project in Goyang City, and the eco-friendly Nuri-gil trail creation in Geomdansan, Hanam City.
