Kwon Seong-dong: "Moon Hyung-bae Reveals Unfairness in Operation of Constitutional Court Trials"
Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, claimed on the 10th during the second hearing of the constitutional authority dispute trial between National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik and the Acting President regarding the non-appointment of constitutional court justice nominee Ma Eun-hyuk that Woo Won-sik's side admitted procedural flaws in the trial request.
On the same day, Kwon told reporters at the National Assembly, "Woo's litigation representative expressed the intention to 'supplement the procedural requirements if the authority dispute trial does not meet them,'" adding, "Acting Chief Justice Moon Hyung-bae asked, 'How long will it take?' and upon hearing the representative's answer of 'two weeks,' replied, 'If you want to, do it.'" He continued, "Through today's trial process, Woo himself admitted that the authority dispute trial regarding the non-appointment of nominee Ma had procedural flaws."
Speaker Woo had filed an authority dispute trial against Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister Choi Sang-mok for not appointing nominee Ma. The Acting President's side holds the position that the National Assembly Speaker must obtain the Assembly's resolution to file such a trial. Related disputes also arose during the second hearing of the authority dispute trial held that day.

He also raised issues regarding the operation of the Constitutional Court trial by Acting Chief Justice Moon Hyung-bae. Kwon said, "Acting Chief Justice Moon revealed unfairness and bias in the operation of the Constitutional Court trials," adding, "If the National Assembly resolution was not obtained, the case should be dismissed as improper; there is absolutely no reason to ask Woo's representative to correct something wrong."
However, when asked by reporters whether Acting Chief Justice Moon should resign, he distanced himself by saying, "It is not the stage to claim that yet."
Meanwhile, Kim Dae-sik, chief floor spokesperson of the People Power Party, explained to the press at the National Assembly regarding the official document related to the hearing of the justice nominee, "It is true that the official document was sent. It was agreed to appoint the committee members," adding, "The People Power Party never agreed to nominee Ma."
When asked if they recommended committee members but did not agree to the nominee, he replied, "When the personnel hearing is held, one nominee from the Democratic Party and one from our side will be recommended, and both parties will agree to recommend a moderate figure," adding, "If the nominee is submitted as agreed through the personnel hearing verification, who would oppose it?"
