According to the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee on the 10th, Kim Hana was notified that she was selected for doping testing after completing the women's alpine skiing sprint qualifiers held at the Yabuli Ski Resort in China the previous day.
Doping tests during the competition are allowed according to regulations. While Kim was undergoing the test, the semifinal match continued. On her way back to the venue, the on-site staff failed to provide proper guidance. As the organizing committee members were confused, time was delayed, and Kim reportedly arrived at the venue just before the semifinal started. The start signal sounded immediately, and having to rush into the race, Kim ultimately injured her ankle.
The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee sent a letter of protest to the Games Organizing Committee. They also sent a letter to the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) urging a review of the incident and measures to prevent recurrence.
Alpine skiing is a sport involving skiing up and down mountains. It has been officially included as an event in the Harbin Winter Asian Games and the 2026 Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics.
