Yeungjin College (President Choi Jae-young), which is opening a new path for nurturing highly skilled professional technical talents in the root industry sector, is successfully operating the ‘2nd Professional Technical Master’s Program’ and producing 20 graduates.
Yeungjin College announced on the 10th that 20 graduates who completed the two-year Precision Mechanical Engineering program, a ‘Professional Technical Master’s Program,’ will receive their prestigious master’s degrees at the ‘2024 Academic Year Degree Conferment Ceremony’ to be held on the 14th.
Second-year students of the Precision Mechanical Engineering Department at Yeungjin College, enrolled in the 'Professional Technical Master's' program, participated in a technical training program in Japan last year and visited ThinkRevoTory Company in Chiba Prefecture, Tokyo.
The Professional Technical Master’s Program was first introduced by the Ministry of Education in 2021 to cultivate meister-level highly skilled professional technical talents, and that same year, Yeungjin College was the only institution in Daegu-Gyeongbuk selected for the ‘Meister University Pilot Operation Project.’
Accordingly, Yeungjin College established the two-year Precision Mechanical Engineering program in the ‘ultra-precision mold field linked to new industries’ in the 2022 academic year. Following the graduation of the first 28 master’s degree holders last year, this year it is producing the second cohort of graduates, successfully establishing an educational model of awarding ‘Technical Master’s Degrees’ at a technical college.
The Precision Mechanical Engineering program operates as a field-centered curriculum linked to new industries, where learners solve on-site technical challenges of their affiliated companies through project labs in elemental technology fields such as optimal molding, thin plate processes, micro-component molds, intelligent mold processes, and composite advanced materials.
Education for nurturing highly skilled professional technical talents has expanded overseas as well. All second-year students participated in advanced company training in Japan during the summer vacation last July, enhancing their global capabilities and strengthening the quality of education.
Kim Byung-su (62), who runs an automobile parts manufacturing business and challenged himself with the Professional Technical Master’s degree, said, “Having graduated from a four-year university and earned a master’s degree from Kyungpook National University’s Graduate School of Business, and having worked in development and technical fields for over 30 years, I felt there were many gaps in my engineering knowledge.” He added, “While enrolled, I attended university lectures every day without fail except for overseas business trips, and was able to acquire broad knowledge in mold design, process design, and materials engineering.”
Having quenched his thirst for learning, he strongly recommends the Professional Technical Master’s program to the company’s overseas sales staff and plans to enroll juniors as freshmen at Yeungjin this year.
Hwang Jin-won (45, department head), a graduate and equipment team leader at L&F, said, “Balancing work and study in the Professional Technical Master’s program was not easy, but it became a stepping stone for my personal growth. I am grateful to the professors who generously guided me so that I could graduate and earn my degree.”
President Choi Jae-young of Yeungjin College said, “I send a big round of applause to the graduates who devoted themselves to the Professional Technical Master’s curriculum and worked hard on their theses,” adding, “As a result of our college’s decade-long dedicated efforts to introduce the ‘Industrial Technology Meister Graduate School,’ we have opened the path to producing meister-level highly skilled professional technical talents.”
President Choi also stated, “We will further strengthen cooperation with Daegu City, Daegu Technopark (TP), Daegu Machinery Parts Research Institute, Korea Mold Industry Cooperative, and others to contribute to the technological advancement of the future automobile parts industry, a key local industry.”
