Cho Deokho, Saemirae Democratic Party Asan Mayoral Pre-candidate: "A Time for New Politics"

"The Two-Party System Has Hit Rock Bottom... The Center Is Needed"

Cho Deokho, Saemirae Democratic Party Asan Mayoral Pre-candidate: "A Time for New Politics" Joo Deokho, the preliminary candidate for Asan mayor from the Saemirae Democratic Party, is making his candidacy declaration at the Asan City Hall briefing room on the 10th.

Jo Deokho, a preliminary candidate from the Saemirae Democratic Party running in the upcoming Asan mayoral by-election in Chungnam on April 2, stated on the 10th, "There has never been a proper mayor under the two-party political system," and emphasized, "It is time for new politics."

He stressed this point during his candidacy announcement at the Asan City Hall briefing room that day.

Jo said, "For the past 30 years, our mayors have been monopolized alternately by the two major parties," and added, "In the 8th popularly elected term, Park Kyungkwi of the People Power Party stepped down in the middle of his term due to false information, damaging our pride."

He continued, "The two-party system is showing its bottom. Factions trying to satisfy their own greed by destroying and cursing each other are at odds," and emphasized, "Expanding the center can be an alternative. We need the Saemirae Democratic Party, which creates a healthy conservatism and a practical progressivism."

He also said, "Citizens must take the lead and create a history of reversal," and raised his voice, "We cannot keep drinking stagnant water forever. Please dig a new well with me."

He presented his vision of making Asan a global digital cultural tourism city, with implementation plans including: △administrative innovation △revitalization of the local economy △attracting a police hospital and a second central police academy △creating a city full of vitality △building the future from history △fostering a city of culture and arts △and a healthy city project.

Meanwhile, Jo currently serves as the head of the Asan-gap district committee for the Saemirae Democratic Party’s Chungnam Provincial Party.

This by-election is being held because former Asan mayor Park Kyungkwi of the People Power Party lost his position after being sentenced to a fine of 15 million won for violating the Public Official Election Act.
