Last year's paid-in capital increase issuance amount was 26.679 trillion KRW, which is 6.6% higher than in 2023, according to the data.
The Korea Securities Depository announced this on the 10th through the '2024 Paid-in and Free Capital Increase Status.' The number of paid-in capital increase issuances was 1,062, down 3.5% from the previous year.
By market, the KOSPI market saw 69 issuances amounting to 8.48 trillion KRW, decreasing by 4.2% and 19.6% respectively compared to the previous year. In contrast, the KOSDAQ market had 313 issuances totaling 5.148 trillion KRW, increasing by 11% and 16.4% respectively. Additionally, the KONEX market recorded 43 issuances worth 184 billion KRW (down 32.8% and 2.1%, respectively), and the unlisted market had 637 issuances totaling 12.867 trillion KRW (6.6% decrease in number of issuances, 30.5% increase in amount).
By allocation method, the third-party allotment method (826 issuances, 16.9597 trillion KRW) accounted for the largest share at 63.6%. This was followed by shareholder allotment (97 issuances, 5.5701 trillion KRW) and general public offering (139 issuances, 4.1491 trillion KRW). The company with the largest paid-in capital increase amount was Shift Up (435 billion KRW), followed by HD Hyundai Marine Solutions (371.1 billion KRW) and Sanil Electric (227.5 billion KRW).
During the same period, there were 87 free capital increases. A total of 1.146 billion shares were issued, representing a decrease of 24.3% in the number of issuances and 35.1% in the number of shares compared to the previous year. In the KOSPI market, 15 issuances (180 million shares), KOSDAQ 43 issuances (520 million shares), KONEX 2 issuances (9 million shares), and unlisted market 27 issuances (455 million shares) were recorded. The company with the largest free capital increase amount was Hyundai Glovis (4.3275 trillion KRW).
