Suwon City Provides Up to 12 Million KRW for Repairing Aging Low-Rise Houses

The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province will recruit households to participate in the ‘Saebit House’ project, which supports home repairs in low-rise residential areas, from March 10 to 31.

Saebit House is a project that supports the cost of home repairs for aging low-rise houses within the home repair support zone. Eligible houses are detached, multi-family, or row houses with four floors or fewer that have been approved for use for more than 20 years.

Suwon City will support up to 12 million KRW (with a 10% self-payment) within 90% of the total construction cost. This year’s budget is 5.8 billion KRW.

The main support projects include ▲ installation of new electrical work including grounding and replacement of aging wiring ▲ home repair work to improve performance such as waterproofing, insulation, windows, facilities, and exterior walls ▲ external landscape improvement work such as fence demolition, fence crack repair, gate replacement, and creation of rest areas and flower beds ▲ installation of disaster prevention facilities against flooding and fire.

Suwon City held the first home repair commemorative ceremony in October 2023 and has supported 1,096 aging houses so far, including 305 houses in 2023 and 791 houses in 2024. Suwon aims to support 3,000 houses by 2026.

Homeowners who wish to apply for the Saebit House project should visit the Suwon Home Repair Integrated Platform (www.suzip.or.kr), check their eligibility, and then submit the application documents together with one of the 92 registered home repair support companies in Suwon to the Suwon Urban Foundation Housing Welfare Center (2nd floor, The Ham Park, Suin-ro, Gwonseon-gu).

Suwon City will select the supported houses in May after the first screening (unit price, appropriateness of support) and the second screening (quantity confirmation, appropriateness of support).

To encourage more citizens to participate in the Saebit House project, Suwon City will send individual guidance text messages to citizens who have previously expressed their intention to apply. Banners will be posted within the home repair support zone, and promotional materials will be distributed to residents.
