U.S. President Donald Trump announced that "a 25% tariff will be imposed on all steel and aluminum imported into the United States starting on the 10th," according to U.S. media reports on the 9th (local time).
He also stated that a plan to impose reciprocal tariffs on multiple countries will be announced soon. This reflects his intention to introduce reciprocal tariffs as another tariff weapon.
According to Bloomberg and Reuters, President Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Louisiana's New Orleans to watch the '59th Super Bowl' that "the announcement of reciprocal tariffs is expected around the 11th or 12th, and the tariffs will take effect immediately upon announcement." President Trump is scheduled to visit the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, to watch the Super Bowl, which will kick off at 6:30 p.m., becoming the first sitting president to attend the event in person.
Earlier, the second Trump administration began applying an additional 10% general tariff on Chinese goods starting from the 4th. In response to the Trump administration's tariff measures, China decided to impose retaliatory tariffs of 10-15% on U.S. goods starting from the 10th.
