"I Will Strengthen the Sustainability of the Industry"

The Webtoon Association announced on the 9th that Professor Kim Shin of the Department of Comics and Animation at Joongbu University was elected as the new president at the regular general meeting held on the 7th. He is an artist who formed the group 'Manhwain Haengdong' and led a comic exhibition commemorating the Sewol Ferry disaster at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul.

He debuted as a publishing comic sketch artist in 1983 and has been active as a political cartoonist since 1987. He has been actively involved in various projects, including participating in the 2014 comic exhibition 'The Unfading Flower Exhibition,' which focused on the issue of Japanese military comfort women victims.

In his inaugural speech, President Kim stated, "In the rapidly changing digital content market, webtoons play a crucial role in the cultural content industry," adding, "I will strive to strengthen the sustainability of the industry and ensure that domestic webtoons can compete in the global market."
