The Gyeongnam Baseball Softball Association successfully held the inauguration ceremony for the 10th President Kim Sang-su at the Changwon Hill Sky Convention.
About 300 guests, including National Assembly members Choi Hyung-doo and Heo Seong-mu, Gyeongnam Sports Council Chairman Kim Oh-young, various dignitaries from different sectors, and local baseball officials, attended the event held on the 7th, adding prestige to the occasion.
Additionally, the event featured an awards ceremony honoring 15 individuals who made significant contributions to the development of baseball in Gyeongnam, receiving commendations and plaques of appreciation, which garnered great attention from the local baseball community.
In his inaugural speech, newly appointed President Kim Sang-su stated, “Compared to professional baseball, which enjoys the highest popularity domestically, amateur baseball receives relatively less attention. It is urgent to expand baseball infrastructure within the province.” He expressed his determination, saying, “We will devote all our efforts to improving the conditions of baseball stadiums located in Changwon and constructing a new stadium comparable to the Miryang Baseball Stadium to fulfill the aspirations of Gyeongnam baseball enthusiasts.”
Kim, who has served as the president of the Masan Odong-dong Merchants Association since 2017, had been serving as the senior vice president of the Gyeongnam Baseball Association since 2022 before being overwhelmingly elected president in a by-election last June.
