The Democratic Party of Korea on the 9th requested active investigation by the police regarding the suspected conspiracy to riot at the Constitutional Court. The party also pointed out President Yoon Seok-yeol's responsibility for incitement related to the Constitutional Court riot conspiracy.
Lee Na-young, deputy spokesperson of the Democratic Party, stated in a commentary, "There are signs that users of an online community, suspected of having conspired in advance just before the riot incident at the Seoul Western District Court, have planned a 'Second Constitutional Court Riot.' On the DC Inside community 'US Politics Gallery,' reconnaissance photos around the Constitutional Court and internal floor plans have been shared, and specific methods and means to break through police defenses are being posted one after another."
On the 3rd, as supporters of President Yoon held a rally in front of the Constitutional Court in Jongno-gu, Seoul, where the Constitutional Court announced the postponement of the ruling on the constitutional complaint and dispute case related to the appointment suspension of Ma Eun-hyeok, a nominee for Constitutional Court Justice by Choi Sang-mok, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, security was strengthened. Lee added, "The author refers to the 13th, the last hearing date of the impeachment trial designated by the Constitutional Court, as 'Choco Purge Day,' actively rallying participants for the riot." She particularly pointed out that the term 'Choco Purge' is derived from the American movie The Purge, which depicts a fictional national holiday called Purge Day where legal control disappears and all illegal acts such as murder and sexual assault are permitted.
Regarding the Constitutional Court riot conspiracy, President Yoon's responsibility was also raised. Lee said, "Yoon Seok-yeol, the ringleader of the insurrection, is shifting all his crimes onto his subordinates during the impeachment trial while inciting the ruling party and supporters to fight for him, thereby encouraging the riot. Not satisfied with the insurrection, he is now inciting a riot that undermines the constitutional order to protect his own safety."
The Democratic Party also urged the police to conduct a swift investigation into the suspected conspiracy.
