"Please Join the Festival of Light That Drives Away Darkness"
"Severe Cold Expected... Dress Warmly and Come"
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, encouraged participation in the Seoul Gwanghwamun rally on the 8th, saying, "The rebellion has not ended yet. Please join the festival of light that drives away darkness in Gwanghwamun Square."
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, posted a message on his fan cafe on the 8th encouraging attendance at the Gwanghwamun rally.
On the 7th, Lee posted on his fan cafe "Jaemyeong's Village," stating, "This Saturday, the peaceful march to protect democracy continues," and added, "Your steps and your voices will be a great force to restore the Republic of Korea." He said, "The main culprits of the rebellion and their sympathizers are trying to make the rebellion seem like 'A Midsummer Night's Dream,' as if nothing happened."
He also said, "The story of 'Jirok-wima,' where a deer was called a horse, comes to mind," and added, "Falsehood can never overcome the truth, and the rebellion forces will eventually be held accountable for their lies." He emphasized, "As history shows, the reaction of anti-democratic and extremist forces will continue until the very last moment," and said, "We must unite our strength to protect democracy and the constitutional order, and to write a new history of hope and solidarity."
Referring specifically to the Gwanghwamun rally on the 8th, he said, "Severe cold is expected on Saturday. Please dress warmly and come." It is known that Lee will not attend the rally that day.
After the December 3 emergency martial law incident last year, Lee said, "There are many things to take care of these days," and announced he would step down from the role of 'Village Chief,' the administrator of his fan cafe. Although there was speculation that he might be distancing himself from his hardline fandom in preparation for an early presidential election, he wrote a post after two months attempting to rally his supporters.
The "Immediate Resignation of Yoon Seok-youl and Emergency Action for Social Reform" group plans to hold a rally calling for President Yoon's impeachment at Exit 4 of Gyeongbokgung Station around 5 p.m. on the same day, and then march from Gwanghwamun through Jonggak to the Bank of Korea intersection around 6:20 p.m. Conservative groups will also continue their large-scale weekend rallies. Recently, the conservative Save Korea faction, which has gained attention with the participation of Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon and Korean history lecturer Jeon Han-gil, will hold separate rallies.
