Gwangju City Council Environment and Welfare Committee Makes First Site Visit of the New Year Members of the Environment and Welfare Committee of Gwangju City Council visited the Gwangju Climate Energy Promotion Agency on the 7th to hear about the agency's operational status and challenges. The Gwangju City Council's Environment and Welfare Committee (Chairperson Choi Jihyun) conducted its first site visits of the new year on January 7, 2025, inspecting the operation status of the Second Sewage Treatment Plant, the First Food Waste Resource Facility, and the Gwangju Climate and Energy Promotion Agency, while also encouraging staff and engaging in communication.


On this day, the committee members visited the Second Sewage Treatment Plant and the First Food Waste Resource Facility to inspect the maintenance and repair status of the facilities for water quality management and odor reduction, and checked the current status of food waste processing.


They then visited the Gwangju Climate and Energy Promotion Agency to listen to the agency's operational status and difficulties, and requested that the agency work to ensure that carbon neutrality practices naturally permeate citizens' daily lives.


Chairperson Choi Jihyun of the Environment and Welfare Committee stated, "I deeply appreciate the achievements and hard work so far. I ask for continued efforts and cooperation so that we can have a positive impact on the local community and our city's environment," adding, "The council will do its utmost to help Gwangju move beyond being an eco-friendly city and become a carbon-neutral city by 2045."
