Previously, the county's Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters began 24-hour emergency operations on the 3rd following the issuance of a weather advisory. They reviewed step-by-step response plans, restricted access to four facilities along the Hwangryonggang River, two hiking trails on Chukryeongsan Mountain, the Jangseongho lakeside trail, and the Samgye-myeon Memorial Park, and suspended some county bus routes.
Public officials of Jangseong County, Jeollanam-do, are inspecting vulnerable facilities by visiting towns and villages. They directly visited village community centers and farms to check the situation and worked hard to prevent damage. Additionally, 198 public and private pieces of equipment and 216 personnel were mobilized to carry out snow removal on 74 routes, totaling 480 km. When snow was forecast, de-icing agents were preemptively spread on frequently icy areas such as mountain passes.
On the afternoon of the 7th, snow removal was completed on the access road to Suyeonsa Temple in Samgye-myeon, which had been isolated by heavy snow, and the monk was evacuated to Baegyangsa Temple.
The county also focused on providing weather updates. Disaster alert text messages, village broadcasts, electronic billboards, and social media (SNS) were used to disseminate weather advisory information and response guidelines to all residents.
County Governor Kim Hanjong said, "With heavy snow followed by a severe cold snap with temperatures dropping below minus 9 degrees Celsius, we cannot let our guard down even for a moment," and added, "We will closely monitor the weather situation and respond systematically to protect the lives and property of our residents."
