Kim Boo-kyum, former Prime Minister and one of the leading opposition presidential candidates, said on the 7th, "The Democratic Party should broaden its base and unite the forces that supported the impeachment to create the next energy for the Republic of Korea."

Visiting the Gwangju National May 18th Democratic Cemetery on this day, Kim stated, "The traditional strength of the Democratic Party lies in its diversity and inclusiveness."

During his three-day visit to Gwangju and Jeonnam, Kim explained, "I came to Gwangju with the mindset of seeking a path regarding the various conflicts that have arisen after the martial law rebellion and the presidential impeachment motion," adding, "I hope to find a way for the May 18th spirit to renew the Korean community today."

Regarding the assessment that his actions are aimed at solidifying public sentiment in anticipation of an early presidential election, he said, "Many citizens are concerned about whether the mechanisms against rebellion forces are functioning properly," and added, "It is difficult for me to give a clear answer until the people can be assured that things will be settled according to the Constitution."

On the 8th at 2 p.m., Kim will give a special lecture to local youth at the Yeomju Gymnasium National Sports Center on the topic of "The Role of Youth in Major National Reform After Impeachment." Afterwards, until the 9th, he plans to meet with businesspeople in Mokpo, Yeosu, and Suncheon, Jeonnam, to listen to support measures for overcoming the domestic economic downturn caused by the aftermath of martial law.
