"Jindo's Treasured Island Sounds" Receive Praise on the Global Stage Beyond Korea

Jindo County Folk Arts Troupe Holds Invited Performances in Germany and Austria
Showcasing Jindobukchum and More to European Audiences

The excellence of Jindo's culture and arts, including Jeonnam Jindobuknori, has received favorable reviews not only in Korea but also on the global stage.

According to Jindo County on the 7th, the county successfully carried out an "overseas performance" to promote the tangible and intangible cultural assets of "Jindo County, the Cultural City of Korea" to the world and to enhance its unique artistic value.

The Jindo County Folk Arts Troupe showcased the cultural excellence of Jindo, Korea's cultural city, to Europe at the Konzerthaus Mozartsaal in Vienna, Austria, on the 27th and 29th of last month, and at the SAALBAU Titus Forum in Frankfurt, Germany.

Jindo County organized the overseas exchange performance of the Jindo County Folk Arts Troupe to widely promote its culture and arts, following requests from the Korean Association in Austria and others to perform at New Year's concerts held in Germany and Austria.

The Jindo County Folk Arts Troupe presented high-quality performances such as Jindobukchum, Simcheongga, Geomungo, and Daegum Sanjo, receiving enthusiastic applause and cheers from both Europeans and local Koreans.

In particular, upon hearing the news of the troupe's performance, not only Koreans living in Vienna and Frankfurt but also Europeans filled the approximately 1,000-seat venues to capacity.

Furthermore, after the performance, there were numerous requests for encores, and the English promotional materials for Jindo County ran out due to high demand, leaving a deep impression by widely promoting Jindo, the "treasure island," to Europeans.

Kim Heesu, the county governor, stated, "Through the regular Jindo Saturday Folk Journey performances held every Saturday at 2 p.m., we are widely promoting Jindo, a special district for folk culture and arts," and added, "We will continue to widely promote the excellence of culture and arts of Jindo, the treasure island and cultural city of Korea."

Meanwhile, the performances in Austria and other parts of Europe were made possible after Jindo County officially requested exchanges in the fields of culture, arts, and economy following a visit to Vienna, Austria, last year to sign export agreements for agricultural and marine products.
