Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) announced on the 7th that Na Kyung-tae (3rd year, Department of Physical Education), a cadet in the Student Military Education Corps, has been selected for the '12th Overseas Leadership Training' and will attend a special training program for three weeks.

This program, selected by the Army Cadet School and sponsored by the Republic of Korea ROTC Central Association, selects outstanding 3rd-year cadets from 108 military units nationwide to develop officer qualities such as leadership at universities in the United States.

Cadet Na Kyung-tae was included among the 88 trainees after a rigorous selection process by the Army Cadet School, based on language scores, military academic performance, and physical fitness. The training period is three weeks, from the 3rd to the 21st of this month.

The overseas leadership training has been conducted annually since 2014, following an MOU signed in 2013 between the Korean Army Cadet School and Texas A&M University in the United States. This year, the University of Texas at San Antonio, which has verified military leadership education programs and possesses the capacity to support cadet training, was added, allowing Cadet Na to participate in the training.

During the three weeks, Cadet Na Kyung-tae will receive one-on-one mentoring with U.S. ROTC cadets and undergo daily physical training and leadership education.

Additionally, the cadet will experience American society and culture through visits to local military cultural heritage sites, the Texas State Capitol in Austin, basketball game attendance, and tours of downtown San Antonio.

The training expenses were partially supported by a development fund donated by Lee Sung-woo, CEO of Daeshin Metal and an alumnus of the Republic of Korea ROTC Central Association and Dong-A University ROTC.

Cadet Na Kyung-tae stated, “During this leadership training, I will interact with American cadets to understand each other's cultures and broaden my international perspective through diverse experiences and learning. I will do my best every moment during the training to directly experience advanced military systems and leadership so that I can contribute to the future development of our military.”
