According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the day, Minister Cho told Ambassador Dai, "In the situation where the circumstances surrounding the Korean Peninsula are becoming more complex, it is more important than anything else for Korea and China to continue strategic communication for the common interest of peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula," and requested China’s constructive role on the Korean Peninsula issue.
He also said, "So far, Korea-China relations have steadily developed through positive exchanges," and added, "This year as well, let us produce more substantial and fruitful results through close cooperation between the two countries." To this end, he added, "Based on Ambassador Dai’s leadership, I hope the Chinese Embassy in Korea will play a meaningful role as a bridge between Korea and China in various fields."
Ambassador Dai expressed agreement, saying, "The two countries share a common interest in maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula," and promised to continue playing a constructive role in the future.
Meanwhile, the two countries agreed to maintain close communication to prepare for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit to be held in Gyeongju in the second half of this year.
