On the 5th, Seosan City in South Chungcheong Province announced on the 6th that it had received the Grand Prize in the Safety Management category at the '2025 Korea Local Government PR Awards' held at the 1st Small Conference Room of the National Assembly Members' Office Building.
The 2025 Korea Local Government PR Awards, hosted by the Korea Media and Video Education Promotion Institute, aim to discover and award media videos that reflect local government policies, thereby promoting communication between citizens and local governments.
The city operates various social media channels in line with the new media era and provides citizens with information on various municipal affairs through its YouTube channel 'Seosan City TV.'
The PR areas cover a wide range including economy, welfare, environment, education, and construction. At this year's PR Awards, the city was honored with the award in the safety category for posting videos that resonated with citizens.
The videos featured a variety of information, including wildfire prevention, citizen safety insurance, the Seosan drainage district (Dong area) urban flood response project, comprehensive cold wave measures, and the Safe Korea Disaster Response Drill.
The citizen safety insurance was established to enhance the stability and welfare of citizens affected by unexpected disasters and accidents. All Seosan citizens are eligible for benefits without any separate enrollment process.
Seosan City fully covers the insurance premiums, providing up to 20 million won in compensation for fire injuries, agricultural machinery accidents, personal mobility device accidents resulting in death or disability, and more. The benefits can be received in addition to other insurance policies.
The city designates February 1 to May 15 and November 1 to December 15 each year as wildfire prevention periods, during which it operates the Wildfire Prevention Headquarters and runs both the Wildfire Rapid Response Team and the Forest Disaster Special Response Team.
In particular, while focusing on wildfire prevention through these teams, the city has also deployed a leased wildfire suppression helicopter in advance to ensure rapid response to wildfires.
Seosan City was also selected as an excellent institution for the second consecutive year in the '2024 Safe Korea Disaster Response Drill' organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, proving its on-site response capabilities in real disaster situations.
Mayor Lee Wanseop stated, "As a 'safe Seosan for citizens,' we have been preparing comprehensive policies with the mindset of preparing an umbrella on a sunny day to ensure citizens' safety," and added, "We will continue to do our best to develop various policies to further enhance the safety of our citizens."
