Chonnam National University Hospital (Director: Jung Shin) announced on the 6th that it has introduced the latest state-of-the-art digital biplane angiography system, 'Artis Icono Biplane' from the German company Siemens.
The biplane angiography equipment, which began full operation on the 20th of last month, enables more accurate and faster procedures through high-resolution imaging. In addition, the radiation dose is reduced to about one-third compared to existing equipment, minimizing radiation exposure for both patients and medical staff.
Furthermore, it allows imaging of areas that were previously inaccessible, enabling more precise cerebral aneurysm procedures without blind spots, which is expected to significantly reduce procedure time and greatly improve patient outcomes.
Baek Byunghyun, head of the Department of Radiology, stated, "Not only does this allow for accurate diagnosis through cerebral angiography, but it can also be used for thrombectomy in acute stroke patients, coil embolization for cerebral aneurysms, and interventional treatments for cerebral vascular stenosis and malformations. We expect it will greatly contribute to improving the quality of care for patients with cerebrovascular diseases."
