Walmart, the largest retailer in the United States, is undertaking workforce reductions as part of its employee redeployment efforts.
According to major foreign media including Fox Business on the 5th (local time), Donna Morris, Walmart's Chief People Officer (CPO), conveyed this policy in a memo sent to employees the day before.
CPO Morris reportedly instructed employees working in Hoboken, New Jersey, to report to the newly opened headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas, and the office in Sunnyvale, California. It is also reported that one office in North Carolina is planned to be closed.
Walmart did not specify the number of employees affected by this measure. Regarding this, Fox Business reported that Walmart, the largest private employer in the U.S., plans to cut hundreds of jobs.
This move is part of Walmart's extensive workforce redeployment strategy that began last year, carried out amid other U.S. companies mandating office attendance three to five days a week.
