Gwangju Seo-gu Receives Top Rating in Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation

"Baro Munja Harangke" and Other Initiatives Receive High Praise

Seo-gu, Gwangju (District Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 5th that it has been selected for the highest grade, "Grade A," in the "2024 Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation" jointly organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.

This evaluation aims to improve the quality of civil service in administrative agencies, targeting a total of 307 agencies including central administrative bodies, metropolitan governments, offices of education, and basic city, county, and district offices. Grades are assigned from "A" to "E" based on a combination of qualitative and quantitative assessments.

Since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration, the district has continuously improved its services and radically transformed its civil service response system, earning the "A" grade, which corresponds to the top 10% in this evaluation.

In this evaluation, the district received high marks in areas such as civil petition administration activities, including the handling of petitions through the National Petition Portal and grievance management. This achievement is attributed to the introduction of the direct text message phone line for the district mayor, "Baro Munja Harangke," and the implementation of the "Visiting Kindness Consulting" program, which provided friendly administrative services. These initiatives enabled the district to swiftly resolve long-standing issues, eliminate welfare blind spots, and address daily inconveniences for residents through proactive administration.

Kim Ikang, the district mayor, stated, "This achievement is the result of our collective efforts to process civil petitions quickly and fairly and to enhance the credibility of our administration," adding, "We will continue to provide administrative services that are more friendly and trustworthy, delivering an administration that moves and inspires our residents."
