Volunteer Work, Industry, Sports, Education and Culture,
Filial Piety, and More: Five Categories to Be Selected
Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is accepting nominations for the ‘34th Changnyeong Citizen Award’ candidates and recipients of the ‘17th Honorary Citizen Certificate’ until the 24th.
The Changnyeong Citizen Award marks its 34th year this year and will be selected in five categories: volunteer work, industry, sports, education and culture, and filial piety. The awardees are individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the welfare improvement and community development of Changnyeong-gun, and can be nominated through recommendations by heads of various institutions and organizations, as well as the heads of the relevant towns and townships.
The Honorary Citizen Certificate is awarded to individuals recognized for their contributions or distinguished achievements in the development of the county administration. After receiving the certificate, recipients are granted administrative benefits equivalent to those of citizens. Additionally, they are given the authority to be appointed to county-related committees and to participate in county-hosted events.
To date, a total of 35 people have received the Changnyeong Citizen Award, and 52 individuals have been awarded the Honorary Citizen Certificate.
This year’s Changnyeong Citizen Award ceremony and Honorary Citizen Certificate presentation will be held at the ‘32nd Changnyeong Citizen Day Commemoration Ceremony’ on April 3rd at the Changnyeong Public Stadium.
Notably, the Changnyeong Citizen Day will also feature a Citizen Sports Festival, drawing significant attention as it is being held again for the first time in six years since 2019.
A county official stated, “Through the Changnyeong Citizen Award ceremony and the Citizen Sports Festival, we plan to create an opportunity for citizens to unite and strengthen their bonds,” and added, “We hope many citizens will take an interest and actively participate.”
