Buyeo County to Open Expanded and Paved National Road No. 29 in March Next Year

Buyeo County in Chungnam Province announced on the 5th that it will invest 22.8 billion won to promote the expansion and paving project of the road connecting National Route 29 and the World Heritage City.

This project involves expanding the existing 1.85 km two-lane road from Guyam Intersection in Guyam-myeon to Bansan Intersection on National Route 29 into a four-lane road.

The road was originally scheduled to be completed last year, but the discovery of Paleolithic relics during construction led to delays due to a detailed cultural heritage excavation survey and negotiations for land and facility compensation. It is now expected to be completed in March next year.

The county expects that once this road opens, it will resolve bottlenecks on the existing road, improve road safety, and significantly contribute to increasing tourist inflow and revitalizing the local economy.

Park Junghyun, the county governor, said, “This expansion and paving project connecting National Route 29 and Buyeo-eup goes beyond simply improving the transportation network. It is a project that will enhance the convenience of local residents and attract more tourists, thereby revitalizing the local economy. We will do our best to complete the construction as soon as possible to alleviate any inconvenience for residents and visitors.”
