Topping the Non-English TV Show Category on Netflix
'Severe Trauma Center,' starring Ju Ji-hoon and Chu Young-woo, has become the most-watched non-English TV content on Netflix, surpassing 'Squid Game' Season 2. According to Netflix's official site 'Netflix Top 10' on the 5th, it recorded 11.9 million views in the fifth week of last month (January 27 to February 2), ranking first in the non-English TV show category. It left behind 'Squid Game' Season 2, which had 5.2 million views and had held the top spot for five consecutive weeks since its release on December 26 last year, by a wide margin.
The view count is calculated by dividing the total watch time by the entire running time. This metric was introduced to accurately gauge the popularity of relatively short content such as movies and mini-series on Netflix.
'Severe Trauma Center' ranked third among all Netflix content, following the English-language movie 'Back in Action' (18.4 million views) and the English-language TV show 'The Night Agent' Season 2 (15.2 million views).
Including this work and 'Squid Game' Season 2, four Korean productions made it into the top 10 non-English TV shows. 'Squid Game' Season 1 ranked 5th (2.1 million views), and the entertainment program 'Solo Hell 4' (2 million views) took 6th place.
