Human Rights Commission to Reintroduce Agenda on 'Guaranteeing Yoon Seok-yeol's Right to Defense' on the 10th

The National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK) will resubmit a proposal to the plenary committee recommending the guarantee of the right to defense in the impeachment trial of President Yoon Seok-yeol.

The NHRCK announced on the 4th that it will publicly discuss the "Recommendation on Measures to Overcome the National Crisis Caused by the Declaration of Martial Law" at the 2nd plenary meeting on the 10th.

The NHRCK canceled the plenary meeting scheduled to discuss this agenda on the 20th of last month. The reason was concerns about potential unrest due to the intrusion and violence incident at the Seoul Western District Court on the 19th of last month and threatening posts against the NHRCK shared in far-right communities.

At this plenary meeting, the previously dismissed agenda, "NHRCK's ex officio investigation and expression of opinion on the President's declaration of emergency martial law destroying the constitutional order," is also expected to be discussed again.
