Met with Over 1,280 Residents Across 16 Dongs,
Collected Suggestions and Proposed Active Solutions
High Resident Satisfaction with ‘Hyodo Bapsang,’ ‘Bohun Bapsang,’ Mapo Circulation Train Bus, and ‘Red Road’
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, is attending the Yonggang-dong Communication Day and responding to residents' opinions.
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) concluded the grand journey of the ‘2025 Dong Happiness Communication Day with the Mayor,’ which began energetically in Mangwon 1-dong on January 7, by wrapping up in Sangam-dong on January 24.
‘Dong Communication Day’ is a field communication administration event held at the beginning of the year since 2023 in Mapo-gu to directly listen to residents’ voices on major district issues and jointly seek effective solutions.
During ‘Dong Communication Day,’ Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu, along with department heads and responsible officials, visited all 16 dongs in Mapo-gu in person, receiving enthusiastic praise from residents.
About 80 residents participated in each dong’s event this time.
Before the main event, Mapo-gu awarded exemplary residents who have brightened their local communities in each dong, delivering pride and inspiration.
Following this, for the first time this year, a segment titled ‘Our Dong Has Changed’ was held, where residents directly introduced the changes in their neighborhoods, fostering local pride and raising awareness of being part of the community.
Additionally, a report session on ‘Dong Specialized Projects,’ reflecting the characteristics of each dong and enhancing autonomy, was added to further emphasize the meaning of resident self-governance.
During the subsequent ‘Conversation Time with the Mayor,’ residents comfortably proposed suggestions and policies regarding local issues directly to Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu.
A total of 81 opinions were discussed across various fields such as transportation, construction, urban environment, welfare, and culture during this ‘Dong Communication Day.’
Mayor Park Gang-su promptly provided solutions on-site for opinions that could be immediately addressed and promised to verify the site through the on-site mayor’s office and respond after legal review for matters requiring further consideration.
Moreover, on-site evaluations of district policies by residents continued alongside suggestions. In particular, Mapo-gu’s representative welfare projects, ‘Hyo-do Bapsang’ (Filial Piety Meal) and ‘Bohun Bapsang’ (Veterans’ Meal) for national veterans, received continuous praise.
Also, gratitude was expressed for the road heating system that functioned effectively during the heavy snowfall over the winter holidays.
An elderly resident living in Seongsan 2-dong said, “I sincerely thank you for establishing the ‘Bohun Bapsang’ project, allowing national veterans to participate first in the ‘Hyo-do Bapsang.’ These days, living in Mapo-gu makes me happy.”
Residents participating in ‘Dong Communication Day’ also showed positive responses and high satisfaction toward initiatives such as the ‘Mapo Circulation Train Bus’ and ‘Red Road’ prepared by Mapo-gu to revitalize local alleyway markets.
Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu emphasized, “Mapo-gu’s policies start from the voices of its residents. We will carefully review the various opinions proposed during Dong Communication Day and actively reflect them in policies to create a happy Mapo for our residents.”

Creating and Supporting an Atmosphere Where Residents Learn Autonomously Beyond Formal Institution-Led Learning
47 million KRW to be Supported for 14 Lifelong Learning Campuses, 13 million KRW for 14 Lifelong Learning Clubs
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is recruiting local institutions (or organizations) and clubs to participate in the ‘Lifelong Learning Campus and Lifelong Learning Club Support Project’ from February 5 to 19.
The district annually promotes lifelong learning support projects to foster and support an atmosphere where residents learn autonomously beyond formal institution-led learning, expand personal learning networks, and realize a lifelong learning city led by residents.
The Lifelong Learning Campus Support Project is open to any institution or organization located in Gwanak-gu capable of planning and conducting lifelong education programs. There are three support types (▲Learning Campus ▲Growth Campus ▲Coexistence Campus), and a total of 14 campuses will be selected to receive a total of 47 million KRW in support for one year.
The Lifelong Learning Club Support Project targets groups of at least five adult learners, with over 80% of members being Gwanak-gu residents, who voluntarily conduct regular learning meetings at least once a month either face-to-face or online. Any such club can apply.
After document screening based on learning plans, number of club members, and activity records, 14 clubs will be selected to receive a total of 13 million KRW in support.
Additionally, the district will appoint the selected institutions (or organizations) and clubs as operating committee members to jointly lead the 2025 Gwanak-gu Lifelong Learning Festival, building a lifelong learning network that grows and develops with residents.
Interested institutions (or organizations) and clubs can check the announcement and project fund execution guidelines on the Gwanak-gu Office website (News & Notices → Public Notices), fill out the application form, and submit it online.
For more details about the project, visit the Gwanak-gu Office website or contact the Gwanak-gu Lifelong Learning Center.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “Through the lifelong learning support project, we will foster and support an atmosphere where residents freely learn on their own and strive to realize a lifelong learning city. We will continue to seek ways to provide diverse learning opportunities so that residents can benefit more from lifelong learning.”
Four Youths Nurtured by Dobong Break Through the ‘Needle’s Eye’ of Employment
Four Youths Who Participated in the ‘Corporate Practical Youth Internship’ Successfully Employed
Including Drone and Robot Edutech Specialized Companies and More
The Dobong-type Youth Internship project is showing remarkable results.
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that four youths who participated in the corporate practical youth internship under the Dobong-type Youth Internship project have successfully secured employment.
Since the project started in 2023, four out of six participants have joined companies of their choice. The companies where they were employed include drone and robot edutech specialized firms and applied software development and supply companies, among others.
Youth participant Yang ○○ (resident of Chang 4-dong, age 24) said, “After completing the six-month internship, I was hired as a full-time employee at the company where I interned. My parents are proud. I plan to do my best in the tasks assigned to me with the mindset I had during the internship.”
The Dobong-type Youth Internship project is divided into three categories: public institution internships, corporate practical internships, and overseas internships.
Among these, the corporate practical internship collaborates with district project ordering companies and small and medium enterprises to provide youths with on-site practical experience.
During the internship, youths receive a pre-tax monthly salary of 2.46 million KRW based on Dobong-gu’s living wage standard. This is higher than the Seoul Youth Preliminary Internship Project’s maximum monthly 2.06074 million KRW and the Future Youth Job Project’s maximum monthly 2.39124 million KRW.
This has garnered strong support from local youths, evidenced by last year’s competition rate of 10 to 1.
This year, the number of participants has been significantly increased from 3 to 8. The district plans to recruit youth interns in March once participating companies are selected by February.
Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu said, “The district is implementing various policies to revitalize the frozen youth employment market. The Dobong-type Youth Internship project is part of this effort. We will do our best to create better and higher-quality youth jobs in the future.”
