Shopping Mall App Users Surge During 'Seol Special'... Coupang Surpasses 33 Million Users

Number of Coupang App Users Up 1.5% from Previous Month
AliExpress and Temu Users Also Up by 1.6% and 1.3%
Online Shopping Demand Rises Due to Lunar New Year Gifts and Cold Weather

As demand for purchasing gifts during the Lunar New Year holiday period increased, the number of users on major shopping mall apps simultaneously rose.


According to retail analysis services WiseApp and Retail on the 3rd, the monthly active users (MAU) of the Coupang app last month were approximately 33.026 million, marking a 1.5% increase from the previous month. The number of users on the Chinese shopping platform AliExpress was about 9.124 million, up 1.6% from the previous month, and Temu users increased by 1.3% to approximately 8.234 million. 11st recorded about 7.808 million users, a 6.3% increase compared to the previous month.

The number of users on Gmarket, a subsidiary of the Shinsegae Group, was approximately 5.429 million, up 2.9% from the previous month, while Auction saw an increase of 2.7% to about 2.473 million users.


According to mobile index MAU data from data platform company IGAWorks, last month Coupang had about 32.396 million users, AliExpress had approximately 7.082 million, and Temu had around 6.298 million users.


Last month, the fashion platforms Musinsa and Ably were estimated to have about 5.371 million and 5.255 million users respectively. Zigzag's user count was recorded at approximately 3.165 million.


An official from the distribution industry explained, "The increase in demand for Lunar New Year gifts last month and the cold weather seem to have contributed to the rise in online shopping users."
