Outstanding Academic Achievement in Accounting and Taxation Nationwide
Gwangju University (President Kim Dongjin) announced on the 3rd that Baekihan and Hong Youngchan, fourth-year students from the Department of Accounting and Taxation, have received the President's Award from the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants annually recognizes students nationwide who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in accounting and taxation majors. Last year, alumni Oh Sojeong and Lee Daeun from the Department of Accounting and Taxation at Gwangju University also received the President's Award, further enhancing the department's reputation as the leading accounting and taxation program in the region.
In addition to this recent achievement, in December of last year, students Lee Woojin and Song Youngmin (both fourth-year) received the President's Award from the Korean Association of Certified Public Tax Accountants, which is awarded to top students nationwide who have excelled in obtaining professional certifications in accounting and taxation.
The Department of Accounting and Taxation at Gwangju University offers specialized and systematic curricula, including artificial intelligence ERP and financial big data analysis. The department actively supports students in obtaining professional certifications by operating preparatory courses for certified public accountants, tax accountants, management consultants, and public officials in accounting and taxation.
Furthermore, to embody the university's new core value of entrepreneurship, Gwangju University operates the integrated business center for accounting and taxation, ‘GU-ATIS (Accounting Tax Integrated Square)’, which undertakes various projects such as government-commissioned education programs in accounting, taxation, and law, hosting nationally accredited certification exams, youth academy programs in collaboration with the Office of Education, family business management consulting, and operating contract-based departments in partnership with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
