Kakao Enterprise announced on the 3rd that it has appointed Lee Won-ju, CEO of DK Techin, a Kakao affiliate, as its new CEO.
Lee will be officially appointed at the regular shareholders' meeting next month and will concurrently serve as CEO of both Kakao Enterprise and DK Techin.
A software engineer by training, Lee joined Kakao in 2008 and was appointed CEO of DK Techin in 2015, leading the company for over 10 years. He has especially accumulated experience and expertise in B2B IT and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, driving the growth of DK Techin.
Under Lee's leadership, DK Techin expanded its business portfolio by merging with Kakao Enterprise's subsidiary, KEP, in January last year. Lee successfully established six core businesses of KEP, including Kakao Work and Kakao i, demonstrating his capabilities as a technology executive.
Lee stated, "Kakao Enterprise and DK Techin are already collaborating closely across various fields," adding, "I will play a key role in maximizing the technological and business synergies of both companies to help Kakao Group leap forward as an AI native company."
