The Coastal Safety Accident Risk Forecast System, in accordance with the 'Coastal Accident Safety Management Regulations,' is a system designed to inform the public of potential risks and prevent accidents at dangerous locations such as piers and other coastal waters during certain periods of adverse weather or natural disasters. The system consists of three levels: Interest, Caution, and Warning.
The 'Caution' level of the Coastal Accident Risk Forecast System is issued when there is a high concern for accidents or the risk of damage spreading. During the caution period, the Coast Guard will strengthen land and sea patrols, focusing on coastal low-lying danger zones such as coastal waters, ports, and rocky shores. They will also work closely with local governments, use patrol station electronic displays, and public announcements to promote safety and prevent coastal accidents.
A Mokpo Coast Guard official stated, "During the caution period, we especially ask the public to refrain from visiting dangerous areas such as breakwaters, and urge those involved in fishing to pay close attention to securing their vessels."
