"There may be pain, but the results will be tremendous"
Mocks Canada again: "Should become the 51st U.S. state"
U.S. President Donald Trump argued on the 2nd (local time) that despite the pain involved, the tariffs imposed on Canada, Mexico, and China must be endured for the sake of America's golden era.
President Trump said this through his social networking service (SNS) Truth Social, which he created, stating, "There may or may not be pain."
He added, "We will make America great again, and all of this is worth paying for," and "We are now a country run by common sense. The results will be tremendous."
The day before, President Trump signed an executive order imposing additional tariffs of 25% on Canada and Mexico, and 10% on China. This is analyzed as a proactive rebuttal to the flood of criticism from U.S. media that the tariffs would negatively impact the economy.
President Trump declared that the U.S. will no longer be a "Stupid Country."
He pointed out, "The United States has a huge (trade) deficit with Canada, Mexico, and China, and the debt amounts to $36 trillion (about 52,500 trillion won)." He continued, "There are no tariffs when products are made in the U.S. Why should America pay trillions of dollars in subsidies to other countries?"
He especially criticized the "tariff lobby" led by globalists and the Wall Street Journal, saying they actively defend many countries including Canada, Mexico, and China in matters of trade, crime, and the influx of toxic drugs into the U.S.
Regarding Canada, he repeatedly insisted that it should become the 51st state of the United States.
President Trump wrote, "We are paying hundreds of billions of dollars in subsidies to Canada, but there is no reason to do so," adding, "We do not need anything they have. We have unlimited energy, we make our own cars, and we have more lumber than we can use." He then wrote, "Canada would not be able to survive independently without this massive support. Canada should become our precious 51st state. Much lower taxes, much better military protection, and duty-free treatment will be provided for the Canadian people."
