Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) held the 2nd “Challenge! Dream Achievement Certification” ceremony on the 1st at the Gyeongbuk Office of Education Training Center in Gumi City, with about 150 students and parents participating who were certified in the program.

The “Challenge! Dream Achievement Certification” is a customized character education program that allows students to set their own goals and achieve them in five areas: humanities, volunteering, sports, arts, and foreign languages, thereby realizing students' infinite possibilities and potential.

This certification program was operated in three ways: the principal certification system, which is autonomously selected and operated according to the characteristics of each school; the superintendent certification system at the level of education support offices reflecting regional characteristics; and the superintendent certification system challenging seven programs presented by the provincial office of education, including “Children Who Write Books,” “Guardians of Our Land Dokdo,” “Carbon Neutrality! 100 Days Challenge,” “Trekking into Gyeongbuk,” “Kkumdarak (Dream多樂) Challenge,” “Youth CEO Startup Project,” and “English! Speak Up.”

In 2024, 576 schools operated the principal certification system, and 4,010 students received superintendent certification from 22 education support offices. About 1,400 students challenged the superintendent certification system, and among them, 192 students who achieved their goals received certificates. Of these, 58 students were awarded medals and certificates directly at the certification ceremony.

In addition to the 192 students who received gold, silver, and bronze certifications, 417 students who individually challenged the superintendent certification programs and achieved their goals were awarded superintendent commendations. These students were recognized for their cumulative certification achievements, laying the foundation for challenges this year.

Families also participated in the certification ceremony, celebrating and encouraging their children who worked hard to achieve the goals they set over the year, adding emotional significance to the event. Especially after the ceremony, experience booths linked to the principal, superintendent, and superintendent certification programs were set up, providing opportunities for families to challenge together and enhancing the meaning of the event.

Now in its second year, the “Challenge! Dream Achievement Certification” has doubled the number of certified students compared to last year, inspiring students' spirit of challenge. The Gyeongbuk Office of Education plans to continue developing superintendent certification programs necessary for students and provide various growth opportunities to nurture their dreams and talents.

Lim Jong-sik, Superintendent of Gyeongbuk Office of Education, said, “Education is more than just the transmission of knowledge; it is a process that helps students set their own dreams and realize them,” adding, “We will continue to support students so that they can grow into future talents who creatively and independently solve problems.”
