On the 24th, Joseonho, head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, visited Gwangmyeong Traditional Market ahead of the Lunar New Year to conduct on-site inspections focusing on fire safety.
Gwangmyeong Traditional Market was established in December 1970 around Gwangmyeong Intersection, housing over 400 stores, making it the seventh largest traditional market in South Korea.

Joseonho, head of the provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters, along with Lee Jongchung, chief of Gwangmyeong Fire Station, and other fire officials, inspected various parts of the market to identify fire vulnerabilities and carefully checked flame detection and fire extinguisher facilities.
He also met with merchants to listen to their opinions, urged fire prevention, and requested cooperation from them for fire brigade activities in case of disasters.
Joseonho emphasized, "We will do our best to prevent fires during the Lunar New Year holiday so that residents can use the market with peace of mind."
Meanwhile, over the past five years, there have been 88 fire incidents in traditional markets within the province, accounting for 0.2% of the total 43,136 fire cases.
