Watch Over 300,000 WaveOn Videos in Real Time Online
New Movie Recommendations Every Month with Themed Selections
DVD Lending Available via Courier Service
The libraries under Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Chang-su) will provide a variety of customized digital services this year to enhance users' accessibility to the libraries.
Ulju Library (Director Choi Jong-gil), Nambu Library (Director Choi Ho-dong), and Dongbu Library (Director Kim Sook-hyun) plan to offer diverse digital experience services this year to transform the libraries into future-oriented complex cultural spaces where books, digital media, and culture harmonize.
Each library operates the ‘WaveOn Digital Video (VOD) Service’ in their digital media rooms.
This service is the only library-exclusive service in Korea, allowing real-time internet streaming of a vast collection of over 300,000 video titles, including the latest movies and domestic and international current affairs and educational broadcasts.
Any library member can use the service by reserving a dedicated seat in the digital media room and watch videos for up to 3 hours once a day.
Nambu Library and Dongbu Library run a ‘Digital Video Movie Recommendation Service (Curation)’ every month with new themes.
The service selects new themes each month linked to anniversaries or special occasions. Users can watch videos in the digital media room on the third floor, and Nambu Library also offers rentals.
In January, Nambu Library prepared 10 films under the theme ‘Heroes,’ including ‘Push,’ ‘Captain America,’ and ‘Black Panther,’ while Dongbu Library selected 10 carefully curated works under the theme ‘New Beginnings,’ such as ‘Bad Girl,’ ‘Cheering for You,’ and ‘Wish.’
Especially, Nambu Library, located in the heart of downtown Ulsan, recorded 7,547 users of the WaveOn service and movie recommendation service in 2024, receiving wide acclaim across all age groups from young to elderly.
Additionally, Ulju Library and Dongbu Library operate a digital video (DVD) lending service for local institutions. These libraries, which hold over 9,000 digital video titles, lend up to five titles for four weeks to various local institutions such as small libraries, daycare centers, welfare centers, and schools.
Ulju Library has expanded its service area to include Jung-gu and Buk-gu districts and contributes to reducing cultural disparities between regions by utilizing courier services.
Institutions wishing to borrow can download the application form from the Ulju Library or Dongbu Library websites and submit it via email or visit in person to complete the application.
The three libraries also operate ‘Movie Days’ on weekends and other occasions. During special events, they support local residents’ cultural activities by providing free popcorn to enjoy while watching movies.
