Na Kyung-won Criticizes Lee Jae-myung for Emphasizing ROK-US Alliance, Saying "'Occupying Army' and 'Xie Xie' Remarks Show No Reflection"

"Democratic Party's Pro-North Korea and Pro-China Stance Endangers Security"
"Anti-Liberal Roots Remain Unchanged"
"No Matter How Much They Pretend Otherwise, the People Will Not Be Deceived"

Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party, criticized the Democratic Party of Korea's resolution supporting the ROK-U.S. alliance, saying, "Do not use it as a political tool," targeting the party's stance and leader Lee Jae-myung.

On the 22nd, Na opened her remarks on her social media (SNS) by saying, "Today, Leader Lee Jae-myung is said to meet with the acting U.S. ambassador." She stated, "Perhaps conscious of their pro-China, anti-U.S. stance, they hastily proposed a resolution supporting the ROK-U.S. alliance yesterday," and added, "When our government tried to promote a ROK-U.S.-Japan value alliance based on the ROK-U.S. alliance, they cited it as grounds for impeaching the president, claiming it antagonized North Korea, China, and Russia. Yet now, they have copied the achievements of the 'comprehensive ROK-U.S. alliance' elevated by President Yoon Seok-yeol directly into the resolution."

She continued, "The Democratic Party's elastic security perspective and pro-North Korea, pro-China stance, which interpret the ROK-U.S. alliance in a self-serving manner according to political calculations, endanger our national security," and said, "China is also an important diplomatic partner for us. We must firmly draw the line even amid anti-China sentiment." However, she noted, "The attitude of China, which neglects issues such as the Northeast Project, cultural projects, illegal fishing in the West Sea, and fine dust problems, is why our people cannot open their hearts to China," and criticized, "The Democratic Party's anti-liberal roots, which have long represented North Korea and China, cannot be changed by a hastily drafted resolution."

Na also criticized, "What about Leader Lee Jae-myung, who signed this resolution? He criticized the U.S. as an 'occupying force' and respectfully clasped his hands toward China, saying 'xie xie' (thank you)." She added, "There is neither reflection on past remarks nor principles regarding diplomacy and security." She urged, "Diplomacy and security are critical matters directly linked to the lives of the people and the survival of the nation. The Democratic Party should no longer use diplomacy and security as political tools," and added, "No matter how much they pretend otherwise now, the people will not be deceived."

Meanwhile, both ruling and opposition parties are holding meetings with key figures following the launch of the second term of the U.S. Donald Trump administration. The People Power Party has formed its own diplomatic delegation to the U.S., centered on lawmakers Na Kyung-won, Kang Min-kook, Jo Jung-sik, and Kim Dae-sik, who were invited by the U.S. On the 22nd, they continued meetings with key Republican figures such as Senator Ted Cruz, co-chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee's Korea Subcommittee, and Representative Young Kim. Leader Lee Jae-myung met with Joseph Yun, the acting U.S. ambassador to South Korea, at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul.
