The People Power Party submitted a resolution to the National Assembly urging the expulsion of Democratic Party lawmaker Jeon Yong-gi, who threatened to file charges if fake news related to the December 3 emergency martial law incident is spread via KakaoTalk. Lawmaker Jeon strongly opposed this, saying, "I have no intention of stopping the war against fake news."

On the 14th, People Power Party lawmakers Park Seong-hoon and Lee Jong-wook submitted the expulsion resolution against Jeon to the National Assembly Secretariat. All 108 members of the People Power Party participated in the resolution.

After submitting the resolution, Lawmaker Park told reporters, "Basically, all communication and privacy freedoms are guaranteed by the Constitution, but Lawmaker Jeon stated that if fake news related to incitement of rebellion is spread via KakaoTalk, even ordinary citizens would be firmly punished under the crime of incitement of rebellion." He added, "Although there is a violation of the duty to maintain the dignity of a lawmaker, there is also an infringement on the basic rights of the people guaranteed by the Constitution, so we submitted the expulsion resolution to respond firmly."

Lawmaker Jeon opposed the People Power Party's submission of the expulsion resolution. At a press conference at the National Assembly that morning, he said, "Even if it means giving up my seat as a lawmaker, I will never tolerate the spread of fake news," and added, "Even if they pressure me by talking about expulsion, I have no intention of stopping the war against fake news."

Regarding the People Power Party's push for expulsion at the party level, Lawmaker Jeon said, "It is utterly absurd," and expressed "great regret at their reckless agitation with baseless claims solely for their political gain. I cannot help but ask whether submitting an expulsion resolution is truly fulfilling their role as a legitimate political party."
