Baek Young-hyun, the mayor of Pocheon City, is gaining attention for strengthening communication with local residents as the new year of Eulsa arrives. On the morning of the 13th, Mayor Baek Young-hyun held a 2025 Gwanin-myeon Resident Empathy Communication Meeting at the banquet hall on the first floor of the Gwanin-myeon Community Center.

The meeting was attended by Mayor Baek Young-hyun, Chairman Lim Jong-hoon, members of the Pocheon City Council, Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly members Yoon Chung-sik and Kim Man-su, Director of Pocheon Senior College, Park Jae-kyung, Director of Gwanin Senior College, Kim Kyung-sik, head of Gwanin Nonghyup, Lee Kang-seung, chief of Gwanin Police Substation, as well as heads of organizations including Yoon Hee-jun, president of the Senior Citizens Association, and Lim Gil-young, chairman of the Village Leaders Association, along with village chiefs from each district.


The meeting proceeded with reports on the status of 2024 meeting proposals by Park Heon-il, head of Gwanin-myeon, reports on major achievements in 2024 and plans for 2025, explanations of Pocheon City’s key priority projects by the Population Growth Bureau chief, and listening to and responding to residents’ suggestions.


Gwanin-myeon has shown results by completing two proposals and actively promoting four others from the 2024 Empathy Communication Meeting, doing its best to resolve residents’ difficulties.


During the meeting, a total of 10 proposals were presented, including △designation of a no-fishing zone at Jung-ri Reservoir △installation of an elevator at Gwanin Culture and Sports Center △expansion of sales booths for the Hantangang Garden Festa in Gwanin-myeon △relocation and reconstruction of the Gwanin-myeon Administrative Welfare Center, followed by responses from the heads of relevant departments.


Mayor Baek Young-hyun said, “Through this meeting, I heard the valuable opinions of the residents of Gwanin-myeon. We will discuss the proposals in detail and do our best to resolve them quickly,” adding, “We will continue to build a happy Pocheon City for all citizens based on communication with them.”

Later that same afternoon, a ‘2025 Changsu-myeon Resident Empathy Communication Meeting’ was held at the Changsu Education and Culture Center.



About 50 people attended this meeting, including Mayor Baek Young-hyun, Chairman Lim Jong-hoon, members of the Pocheon City Council, Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly members Yoon Chung-sik and Kim Seong-nam, heads of institutions and organizations in Changsu-myeon, and village chiefs from each district.


The meeting included reports by An Mun-jong, head of Changsu-myeon, on major achievements in 2024 and plans for key projects in 2025, a report on the handling of proposals from the previous meeting, an introduction to Pocheon City’s key priority projects by the Population Growth Bureau chief, and listening to and responding to residents’ suggestions.


The main proposals raised that day included △additional sidewalk installation in the disconnected section of the delegated national road No. 87 sidewalk construction △creation of a representative park for Changsu-myeon using national land near the small park at San 91, Chudong-ri △inspection and crackdown on dust pollution △installation of rockfall nets on Myeon-ro 101, road and sidewalk construction, followed by responses from the heads of relevant departments.


Mayor Baek Young-hyun said, “We communicate with citizens with the attitude that ‘all answers lie in the field,’ and since taking office, we have reflected citizens’ voices in policies through empathy communication meetings,” adding, “We will seek prompt solutions to valuable proposals and inconveniences and create effective policies so that this year will be one of action together with residents.”
