The opposition parties, including the Democratic Party of Korea, decided on the 8th to file complaints against 22 individuals, including Chief Presidential Secretary Jeong Jin-seok, who were absent from the National Assembly Steering Committee's inquiry into the 'December 3 Emergency Martial Law Incident.'
On the same day, the opposition parties held a full meeting of the Steering Committee and approved the complaint agenda. Those targeted for complaints included Chief Secretary Jeong, National Security Office Director Shin Won-sik, and Presidential Security Service Chief Park Jong-jun.
Initially, the opposition planned to conduct inquiries related to the emergency martial law against the Presidential Secretariat, National Security Office, and Presidential Security Service. However, the inquiry itself was thwarted as all witnesses were absent. Chief Secretary Jeong submitted a letter of absence citing "ongoing investigation," and Chief Park submitted a letter stating reasons including "24-hour emergency response duties related to the protection of the President and others."
The Steering Committee adopted a schedule for inquiries targeting the Security Service, which blocked the execution of an arrest warrant by the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Office against President Yoon Seok-yeol. This included selecting Chief Park and other aides as witnesses.
