Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 7th that it has been selected as a pilot municipality for the Ministry of Health and Welfare's ‘2025 Disabled Personal Budget System’ to guarantee the choice rights of persons with disabilities and flexible service use.
The Disabled Personal Budget System is a program that supports persons with disabilities to independently establish usage plans tailored to their own situations and selectively use necessary goods and services. It focuses on helping persons with disabilities live independently and providing customized welfare services.
This pilot project will be conducted for vouchers in four areas: △ Activity Support △ Daytime Activities for Adults with Developmental Disabilities △ After-school Activities for Youth with Developmental Disabilities △ Developmental Rehabilitation.
Up to 20% of the total voucher amount per individual can be converted into a personal budget, allowing persons with disabilities to directly select appropriate services according to their needs.
Namyangju City plans to recruit participants in the first quarter of this year and start the full-scale pilot project from the second quarter. Detailed information on participant recruitment and project operation will be announced later.
A Namyangju City official said, “We expect this pilot project to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities in the region and enhance the efficiency of welfare services,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to prepare various support measures for persons with disabilities.”
