1 Billion KRW Support for Triplets Families... Expansion of Multi-Child Family Support
Gyeongju, a Child-Friendly City, Strengthens Birth and Childcare Policies
Gyeongju City in Gyeongbuk is focusing its administrative efforts on establishing and implementing population increase policies and population-friendly policies to overcome the crisis of population cliff and local extinction.
On the morning of the 7th, Gyeongju Mayor Ju Nak-young visited the home of Kang Geun-hee (father, 32) and Park Sun-hye (mother, 32), residents of Dongcheon-dong, to celebrate the 100th day of their triplets born last October: Hye-in (daughter), Hye-jun (son), and Hye-won (daughter), and personally delivered commemorative gifts.

This visit was planned by Gyeongju City to overcome the low birthrate issue and support childbirth and child-rearing.
Mayor Ju Nak-young said, “The birth of triplets is a great blessing for Gyeongju,” and added, “I hope the triplets grow up healthy and become the hope of the local community.”
On this day, Mayor Ju delivered congratulatory gifts such as infant chairs and diapers to the triplets’ family and provided information on child-rearing support policies, including maternal and newborn health care support and shared childcare centers.
Kang Geun-hee expressed his feelings, saying, “It is a great encouragement that the mayor personally visited to congratulate us,” and “We will raise the children to be bright and healthy.”
Currently, Gyeongju City provides a childbirth congratulatory payment of 200,000 KRW and childbirth incentives of 3 million KRW for the first child, 5 million KRW for the second child, and 18 million KRW for the third child and beyond.
In addition, childbirth congratulatory gifts consisting of seaweed and local specialties are also provided, and starting this year, 500,000 KRW for postpartum care expenses will be additionally supported.
In particular, the triplets’ family will receive a total of 34.6 million KRW over three years, including childbirth congratulatory payments and incentives amounting to 26.6 million KRW and a first meeting voucher worth 8 million KRW.
Furthermore, the parents of the triplets will receive parental benefits of 54 million KRW (for 0 to 23 months) and child allowances of 10.8 million KRW (for 36 months).
When combining childbirth congratulatory payments, childbirth incentives, first meeting vouchers, parental benefits, and child allowances, the total amounts to approximately 99.4 million KRW.
Mayor Ju Nak-young said, “This is very welcome news amid the population crisis, and I hope the children grow up healthy and become the hope of the local community,” adding, “We will continue to expand various support policies for multi-child families to make Gyeongju a city good for raising children.”
Meanwhile, Gyeongju City plans to use this triplets’ 100th-day celebration event as an opportunity to further spread a family-friendly atmosphere in the local community and continue efforts to overcome the low birthrate issue.
