Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 31st that it held a meeting on the 26th at the ‘Gwangju-si Naturechae Food Farm Center’ with Kim Dong-gu, head of the Han River Basin Environmental Office, and related department officials to discuss the utilization plan for land purchased by the Ministry of Environment.

This meeting was held at the suggestion of Gwangju City to improve the environment of state-owned land (land purchased by the Ministry of Environment) that has been poorly managed due to natural disasters, by transforming it into resident rest areas, walking trails, and ecosystem conservation spaces.
The Han River Basin Environmental Office showed a proactive attitude toward Gwangju City’s proposal. Kim Dong-gu, head of the Han River Basin Environmental Office, stated, “The joint waterfront green space creation project is a well-intentioned initiative, and we will actively review the matters proposed by Gwangju City.”
Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “If it is confirmed that the promotion of this joint waterfront green space creation project can improve residents’ living environment and contribute to the development of Gwangju City, we will take the lead in proposing it to related agencies.”
Meanwhile, the joint waterfront green space creation project is based on the ‘Guidelines for Land Purchase and Waterfront Green Space Creation and Management,’ and the project budget consists of design costs (100% fund), facility installation costs (50% fund, 50% local government), and maintenance costs (100% local government).
