92% of Washing Machine Users, 80% of Washer-Dryer Users Utilize
Samsung AI Home Appliance Sales Growth and AI Feature Upgrades Effective
Samsung Electronics announced on the 30th that the number of domestic users of its Internet of Things (IoT) platform, 'SmartThings,' recently surpassed 20 million. They explained that the rapid increase in users is due to the sales growth of Samsung AI home appliances and the AI feature upgrades within SmartThings.
In particular, Samsung Electronics analyzed that the SmartThings connection rate for major AI home appliances sold this year is very high. 92% of buyers of the 'Bespoke AI Steam' robot vacuum cleaner released in April this year and 80% of buyers of the 'Bespoke AI Combo' all-in-one washer-dryer released in February this year connected to SmartThings.

The SmartThings features mainly used were AI-based lifestyle functions such as ▲'Home Care,' which helps with remote diagnosis and management of products ▲'Energy Saving,' which monitors and manages the power consumption of connected devices ▲'Pet Care,' which checks the location of pets and remotely controls home appliances based on their condition.
▲When a device malfunction is detected, users can immediately request after-sales service through the app ▲Energy saved is converted into membership points ▲Upgraded features such as checking pet condition graphs showed a high increase rate of approximately 72%, 71%, and 79%, respectively, when comparing usage rates from early January to mid-December this year.
Based on excellent openness and scalability, SmartThings continues to expand its ecosystem. More than 1,000 domestic users connect and use over 100 products from more than 300 partner companies, including Samsung Electronics products, through SmartThings.
The number of cases setting up the 'Automation' feature, where home appliances operate automatically according to daily routines, is also increasing. For example, lights turn on automatically and air purifiers operate when entering the home, creating a convenient daily life with SmartThings.
A Samsung Electronics official said, "As AI home appliance purchases increase, more customers are actively using SmartThings, and usage patterns have diversified. We will continue to introduce various SmartThings features that create a convenient daily life."
