Secured 50 Million Won in Special Incentive Grants
Yangsan City in Gyeongnam has been selected as an excellent ('B' grade) local government in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's '2024 Local Price Stabilization Management Evaluation' and will receive a special grant of 50 million KRW.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety conducted a comprehensive evaluation of all 243 local governments nationwide from November last year to October this year, assessing efforts to stabilize seven types of local public utility charges, support for activating affordable price businesses, inflation rates of personal service fees, and overall local price stabilization efforts, ultimately selecting institutions that worked hard to stabilize local prices.
Accordingly, Yangsan City froze local public utility charges such as water and sewage fees and public transportation fares this year, actively discovered and significantly expanded affordable price businesses (from 11 to 50 locations), and enhanced benefits including approximately 7 million KRW worth of water fee reductions, delivery fee support, and provision of volume-based waste bags.
In addition, the city issued local love gift certificates at the highest level in the province (200 billion KRW) and consistently held discount events for affiliated stores of Yangsan Love Gift Certificates' additional services such as Delivery Yangsan, Yangsan Mall, and traditional markets. It also made various efforts such as campaigns and joint inspections to eradicate overcharging during holidays, festivals, and vacation seasons, which was analyzed to have resulted in a favorable evaluation.
A Yangsan City official stated, "As the local economy is becoming more difficult recently, we will strive to minimize the increase in local public utility charges next year," adding, "We will do our best to stabilize prices and the livelihoods of ordinary citizens through various policy initiatives."
