Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 27th that starting in 2025, it will provide a free baby resident registration card issuance service to commemorate the birth of babies born in Gwangju and to create a social atmosphere encouraging childbirth.
Free issuance service of baby resident registration cards launched. Provided by Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do
The baby resident registration card is made of plastic and is the same size as the resident registration card. The front side displays basic information such as the baby's name, date of birth, photo, and address, while the back side shows the fetal name, birth time, weight, height, blood type, zodiac sign, and parents' wishes.
Parents who wish to receive the card must prepare an ID and a baby photo file (JPG) within 12 months after birth and submit an application form to the local eup/myeon/dong administrative welfare center. They can pick up the card within 30 days from the application date.
However, the baby resident registration card has no legal effect and cannot be reissued if lost.
A Gwangju City official stated, “We will provide precious memories to all children and parents who register births in Gwangju and stand together for the happy future of the babies.”
